ATR Forced Air Conduction Enclosure
This ruggedized ATR chassis is a forced air conduction cooled ATR for airborne applications at up to 25,000 ft. It includes a rugged top load 6U brazed 8-slot conduction-cooled card cage, folded fin heat sinks in the chassis sidewalls, an 8-slot custom VME64x backplane, 400 Watt MIL-STD-704E conduction cooled power supply with 28VDC input. This rugged enclosure is cooled by two internal high performance MIL type fans, and the conduction cooled payload is in a sealed internal area offering protection against foreign matter. The ATR enclosure also includes a system monitor and access via a top panel with captive hardware to the payload cards. The front panel includes provisions for rugged I/O connectors, including signal type and RF type connectors. This rugged ATR chassis could be adapted for different applications with VPX, OpenVPX, VXS, VME64x, CompactPCI or hybrid type backplanes. The chassis also supports rugged environmental levels of MIL-STD-810 for shock, vibration, salt fog, sand and dust as well as MIL-STD-461 for EMI. Different types of power input can also be accommodated as well as different levels of payload power dissipation and/or altitude.
