GASTONIA, N.C. – December 3, 2003 – The history of flight came full circle today as Curtiss-Wright announced that it has acquired Systran Corporation of Dayton, Ohio, for approximately $18 million.

Based in Dayton, Systran has annual sales of approximately $15 million and is a leading supplier of highly-specialized, high-performance data communications products for real-time systems, particularly in the aerospace and defense markets. Key applications include simulation, process control, advanced digital signal processing, data acquisition, image processing, and test and measurement.

In recent years, Systran has secured key defense and aerospace wins, providing sophisticated data communications products for radar and sonar applications such as Raytheon’s Upgraded Early Warning Radars (UEWR) and the SPY-3 Multifunction Radar system for the next generation DD(X) Destroyer. Other significant projects include the Boeing 767 Tanker, MK 45 Gun Control System and the instrumentation, data fusion and data acquisition systems for the F- 35 Joint Strike Fight (JSF) simulator. Systran’s key customers include BAE Systems, Boeing, General Dynamics, L-3 Communications, Lockheed Martin, Northrop Grumman, Raytheon, and many other leading defense industry companies.
